About 

Karen L. Mosley, MSW (she/her) is a proud queer Southern Black feminist social impact professional with over 20 years experience working toward equity and justice for marginalized communities. Karen has an unwavering belief in and commitment to supporting the leadership and increasing the grant writing and fundraising capacity of grassroots organizers to build collective power. She is a mission-focused, strategic, collaborative, and successful leader with a history of growing diverse revenue sources, securing large foundation grants, and enhancing the impact of nonprofit organizations. 


Since 2017, Karen has supported Social Justice nonprofits working at the intersection of Human Services and Social Justice by utilizing her ability to engage and partner with community members. Karen’s advanced knowledge of 501c3 and 501c4 rules, regulations, policies and laws allow her to craft winning grant proposals, create, implement and train staff on grants management systems and build trust-based relationships with funders and major donors.

Karen has firsthand knowledge and experience in Local, Regional and National Social Justice Movement spaces as a Grassroots Resource Organizer and inside National Philanthropic Institutions as a Movement funder which positions her uniquely to meet her clients’ needs. Karen approaches her work with Joy and a spirit of Abundance.

Karen’s successful engagement and collaboration with over 100 nonprofit leaders underscores her ability to navigate a range of complex funding landscapes to support nonprofits' ability to tap into the wealth of resources available to them. Karen not only brings unparalleled expertise and a rich history of success but also shares a profound alignment with her Clients’ missions.
Karen received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Georgia Southern University and her Master’s in Social Work from The University of South Carolina. 


Karen is the Founder and Principal Writer of K. Lorraine Mosley, MSW LLC, serves as an Adjunct Professor of Sociology-Human Services and Social Justice Program at The George Washington University and is Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of Southerners on New Ground. Karen resides in Washington, DC.
